For Decoration:

  • 1 tube black decorating gel
  • White chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cake Layers

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (4–5 mins).

  3. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with flour.

Step 2: Bake the Cake

  1. Divide batter between pans and bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  2. Cool in pans 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Step 3: Make Buttercream & Colors

  1. Beat butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla.

  2. Divide into three portions: leave one white, color one red, one blue.

Step 4: Assemble the Cake

  1. Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thin red buttercream layer.

  2. Stack second layer, apply a crumb coat over the entire cake, and refrigerate 30 minutes.

Step 5: Decorate the Spider-Man Cake

  1. Frost half the cake red, half blue.

  2. Use black decorating gel to create a spider web and spider emblem.

  3. Add white chocolate chips or silver pearls for extra details.
