Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cake Layers
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (4–5 mins).
Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with flour.
Step 2: Bake the Cake
Divide batter between pans and bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool in pans 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Step 3: Make Buttercream & Colors
Beat butter until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla.
Divide into three portions: leave one white, color one red, one blue.
Step 4: Assemble the Cake
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thin red buttercream layer.
Stack second layer, apply a crumb coat over the entire cake, and refrigerate 30 minutes.
Step 5: Decorate the Spider-Man Cake
Frost half the cake red, half blue.
Use black decorating gel to create a spider web and spider emblem.
Add white chocolate chips or silver pearls for extra details.
Notes
Chill cake before decorating to keep frosting firm.
Use room-temperature ingredients for smoother mixing.
Start web design from the center and work outward for precision.
Don’t rush cooling; warm cake + frosting = messy layers.
Store at room temp up to 3 days or refrigerate up to a week. Freeze slices up to 3 months.
