  • 3 tablespoons Nutella or chocolate spread (alternative option)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar mixed with ½ teaspoon cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)

Substitution Options:

  • Gluten-free: Replace all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend
  • Dairy-free: Substitute butter with cold vegan butter or coconut oil
  • Vegan: Use plant-based butter and replace the egg wash with non-dairy milk

Instructions

  • Make the Dough
    Mix flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Shape into a disk, wrap, and chill 15 minutes.

  • Roll & Cut
    Roll dough ⅛-inch thick. Cut into 24 rectangles (half for bottoms, half for tops).

  • Add Filling
    Place 12 rectangles on baking sheets. Add 1 tsp filling to each, leaving a ½-inch border.

  • Seal the Pop Tarts
    Brush edges with water. Top with remaining rectangles and press edges with a fork.

  • Bake
    Brush tops with egg wash. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.

  • Glaze & Serve
    Cool 10 minutes. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over pop tarts and let set 5 minutes.
