  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1¼ cups whole milk

For the Chocolate Swirl:

  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons hot water
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  • Prep Pan & Oven
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan or two round pans.

  • Mix Dry Ingredients
    Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  • Make Chocolate Batter
    Mix cocoa powder with hot water and melted butter until smooth. Set aside.

  • Cream Butter & Sugar
    Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Add Eggs & Vanilla
    Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.

  • Combine Batter
    Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, mixing just until combined.

  • Create Marble Swirl
    Mix some vanilla batter into the chocolate mixture. Spoon both batters into the pan and gently swirl with a knife.

  • Bake
    Bake 45–50 minutes, until a toothpick shows a few moist crumbs.

  • Cool & Serve
    Cool 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to a rack to cool completely before slicing.
