Chocolate Energy Date Balls are rich, no-bake snacks made with dates, almonds, and cocoa powder. Naturally sweetened and packed with fiber and healthy fats, they’re perfect for quick energy, meal prep, or a healthier chocolate craving.
Ingredients
Main Base:
- 2 cups pitted Medjool dates (about 12–14 dates)
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Optional Add-ins:
- 2 tablespoons mini dark chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon almond butter or peanut butter
For Rolling:
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped nuts
Dietary Substitutions:
- Nut-free: Replace almonds with sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds

Instructions
Soften Dates (if needed)
If dates are dry, soak in warm water for 10 minutes. Drain well and remove pits.Chop Almonds
Pulse almonds in a food processor until roughly chopped. Remove and reserve half.Make the Base
Add remaining almonds, dates, cocoa powder, chia seeds, vanilla, and salt to the processor. Blend until a sticky mixture forms.Add Texture
Pulse in reserved almonds and optional add-ins (chocolate chips or nut butter) just until combined.Shape
Roll mixture into 16–18 small balls. Lightly dampen hands if sticky.Coat & Chill
Roll balls in cocoa powder, coconut, or chopped nuts. Chill for 30 minutes if desired.
Notes
Texture fix: Too dry? Add 1 date at a time. Too sticky? Add nuts or cocoa powder.
Make-ahead: Flavor improves overnight; great for meal prep.
Storage: Refrigerate up to 2 weeks or freeze up to 3 months.
