Additional Supplies:

1 Barbie doll (new, with legs removed)

Dome-shaped cake pan or large mixing bowl

Piping bags and star tips

Plastic wrap

Instructions

1. Bake the Cake

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease your dome pan.

  • Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.

  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour.

2. Prepare Barbie & Cake Structure

  • Carefully remove cake, dome-side up.

  • Cut a small hole at the top center for Barbie’s legs. Wrap legs in plastic.

3. Make Buttercream & Color

  • Beat butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla. Divide and tint with food coloring.

4. Frost the Cake

  • Apply a thin crumb coat, chill 30 mins.

  • Use piping bags to create rosettes, swirls, and ruffles simulating the gown. Decorate with edible glitter or pearl dust.

Notes

Healthier swaps: Half all-purpose flour → whole wheat pastry flour; butter → Greek yogurt; reduce sugar with unsweetened applesauce.

Gluten-free: Use almond flour blends.

Dairy-free: Coconut oil + plant-based milk.

Stability: Insert wooden dowels around Barbie before decorating.

Cooling is crucial: Warm cake melts frosting; always cool fully before decorating.

Center hole: Start small; adjust as needed.
